author of the books

Corina is a woman who has faced many challenges in her life. She is Dutch, born in Indonesia. She contracted polio there at age two and a half, and she and her family fled the country when she was nine to escape the Indonesian uprising to take back control of their own country. After living in the Netherlands for two years, her family immigrated to the United States and settled in California. She attended middle school and high school in Southern California. She married a military officer at age 20 and spent the next 25 years moving around to Europe and the United States.

Raising three children, she accepted the challenge and succeeded whether on crutches or in a wheelchair. In addition to being an author, she also worked from home as a seamstress and as an artist/scientific illustrator, enabling her to be close to her children. She loves to spend time creating art and music now that she is retired and her children are grown and have kids of their own. Corina began having surgeries at the age of five, and as of right now, she has undergone 103 surgeries because of polio and breast cancer in the 2000s. She views every problem she encounters as something she must conquer.
